Opened in October 2006, the Fly-In Fish Inn, located in Sitka is family owned and operated.
The property located on Katlian Street has been owned by Ken Bellows since 1980. This is where he purchased Channel Flying and opened his own flying service, Bellair, Inc. In 1985 his sister, Dee joined him in the business as dispatcher and office manager. In 1989, Ken and Dee's brother Ron joined in as the business expanded to Juneau. Ron became manager of that station.
Later the Juneau branch was dissolved and Ron moved to Sitka where he continued his profession as an architect. Bellair operated until 1996 when Ken decided to sell the operation. Another SE Alaska air taxi operated from the float as Ken and Dee were hired as pilot and dispatcher. In 1999 that operator left.
Ken and Dee decided to open Air Sitka as a brother and sister operation. Air Sitka is currently in operation at the original homestead here in Sitka and operated by Ken. Dee has now taken over operation of the Inn. Ron designed the new building which is the Fly-In Fish Inn and is still designing buildings in Sitka today.
Many nieces and nephews and family members alike have given a helping hand in building our new Inn. We are also proud to welcome our mother, Gladys. She moved from Minnesota three years ago and lives in one of the four apartments in the building. We are proud of the outcome and look forward to many years of enjoyment in our new adventure in meeting and greeting visitors from around the country.
We invite you to come to our home town Sitka and check us out. Any time of the year.
